A couple of weeks ago, I discovered
YouTube Inc., through its lawyers here in Chile, was trying to recover the domains related to YouTube in Chile. In that case, they were YouTubeChile.cl, YouTubevideos.cl and YouTube-videos.cl.
I contacted the owners of the domains and, then, just to add some data, I called to the owner of
YouTube.cl to ask him if some lawyer contact him. Then,
the story really change the way, because I knew the lawyers send a letter to ask the domain.
Andrés Chapero is the owner of YouTube.cl and he have it a couple of years ago. He, at first, wanted to do a chilean YouTube version but with the permision of YouTube, so he contacted them and they said they are focused only in the North hemisphere, so they said OK to do a "free version" in Chile.
Now,
Silva & Cía. Lawyers will go to justice to recover YouTube.cl... Chapero is tired because my story at
Emol make a lot of journalist call him... and he become mad when he knew lawyers said he registered the domain in "bad faith".
And now, the story go worlwide in newspapers, websites and blogs... A very good explanation in English at
Daily Domainer.
